No, your muscles aren’t too short or too tight by nature. It’s your brain who doesn’t feel safe enough to let go of that tightness.
Stretching and mobility works, but all it does is making the brain feel safe in that position by doing many reps.

Just stretching often fails because it’s fighting the brain’s protective mechanisms. When your nervous system perceives threat, it creates muscle tension as a safety strategy.

What we should be asking is:
‘Why is the brain creating this tension?’

Once we figure this out, we can address the root causes through #acupuncture and #moxibustion.

Sometimes “I’m fine” means “I’m exhausted”.
On R U OK? Day, it’s not just an opportunity to reach out to our friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances, it’s a chance to reflect on what it looks like when someone is not doing so well.
Reach out to your GP or psychologist if you need someone to talk to confidentially, or give your local acupuncturist a call to make an appointment to support your wellbeing.
A 2019 meta-analysis and systematic review found acupuncture a suitable adjunct to usual care and standard antidepressant medication for depression.
